Work Ethic
You could say that I have a type A personality. I’m not one to slack off; I really don’t like not being active or working on something. It doesn’t matter where I am, whether it be on the computer or in class. Not working just bugs me.
I think it has something to do with the type of person I am, but I don’t know. My feelings behind working are two things: one of which is that this is the one life I’ve got to live, and that God has put me here in this spot for a reason. A good reason.
I don’t know what that reason is, but heck. As a christian, I’m instructed to win. This is probably my favorite verse (I love it to death, really).
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
1 Corinthians 9:24
When I work, I work knowing that I’m doing something that is going to impact me, big or small. I’m setting out to do something different. My work ethic is determined by my motivation, and the idea that I can enjoy my life and have fun doing it.
On the subject of having fun, well, you’re not going to be successful unless you do what you love and have fun doing it. Some of the biggest mistakes in the world - people goofing around, not really thinking about how to make it big - are the ones that have been the most successful.
Motivation is also one of the most powerful things that has controlled my life. When ‘m really in the mood to work at something, I do it. I also find that when I’m really angry because things don’t work out, the more angry I get, and the more mistakes I make.
I control my work ethic, and I work hard because I want to be someone, I want to change things, and I want to “win the race”. I am motivated, and I am driven.
