Why I Love My Job
I’m a freelancer, and I love my job. That’s right. You heard me, I love my job. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Everything about this job is perfect, and I don’t think I could ask for anything more. Here’s a few reasons why I love my job…
#1: I am my own boss.
This is probably my favorite reason. I’m my own boss, and I don’t listen to anyone else. I set the rules, I decide what my salary is going to be, and I do whatever the heck I want. It’s really awesome not having to work under someone.
#2: I set my work environment.
I love setting my own work environment. I work whenever the heck I want, whether that be in the early hours of the morning or at noontime. It doesn’t matter. I can listen to my own music and work at my own pace.
#3: I do whatever I want.
Having the ability to chose my own clients rocks. I can accept or decline offers and work at my own pace. It beats the crap of working endless hours in the mall at a retail clothing store or worse, *shudder* Hot Dog on a Stick. I just couldn’t stand it. I can make the same amount of money working in a few hours than I can in a day.
The only advantage to retail work is that it’s a steady flow of income. Convincing clients that my rates are high Besides that, I avoid it at all costs.
#4: Pride.
I take pride in my work. I know that I’m not the best designer or developer that’s ever walked the face of the earth, but doing what I do at my age is a rarity. When people ask me what I do, I like to say that I’m a web developer. It’s much better than saying “I work in the mall at a hot dog stand”.
These are just a few of the many reasons I love my job. It really rocks being a freelancer, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
