Defining Love
What is love? Alot of people have a mixed view on just exactly what in the world love is. Some consider it unexplainable - it’s more than just a feeling. It’s a way of life. But when you say you love someone, what does it mean? People have mixed answers. We’ll start with, of all things, the Bible.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails
1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
Ok, so we’re getting somewhere. But there’s a flaw. The flaw is that that’s listing the qualities of love, and not what love is. I had the great privilege of asking someone who’s really helped me and guided me through a few things - Lisa Hightower.
Love is the moment that everything seems worth it. I mean, I can give you a bunch of trite lines about how you know you’re in love, but actual love is the moment when there is nothing else there, and that there are no other thoughts running through your head, its just you and the person/thing you love. That’s it. You’re in a world of your own creation in that moment, and there’s nothing else there.

She’s close. When you’re in love, there’s nothing left in the world. You feel like nothing can stop you. But that’s still a quality of love. But I think there’s something more. I also stopped by #9rules and had a chance to talk to `davo. He almost nailed it.
Love, in my definition is when you accept something in your mind as something you’re willing to put aside every doubt, inhibition and second thought for, be it any type of noun. Person, place or thing.
He’s close, really close. But there’s someone closer. About a year back, I had the wonderful opportunity of seeing Josh McDowell speak. He referenced this verse. It really puts things straight.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
I’m not here to preach and I’m sure some reading this might take offense to that statement. But it says it straight: love whatever you love more than yourself. That’s what love is. Being selfless, and giving everything you have for what you love.
