AppleInsider Vs. MacRumors

Something about AppleInsider has always bugged me; I don’t quite know what it was. They seem to have this corporate view on things. Lately, their writing has become more and more, oh let’s say ridiculous. In example, just the other day, I wanted to know what was going on with the new macbook release, and I didn’t want to have to go through Apple.com because I was limited with time. So I log on to AppleInsider. And this is a portion of what I got.

“The new line of MacBooks remain just one-inch thin and feature built-in 802.11n wireless networking for up to five times the performance and twice the range of 802.11g. Every MacBook also includes a built-in iSight video camera for on-the-go video conferencing, Apple’s MagSafe Power Adapter that safely disconnects when under strain, and iLife ‘06, Apple’s award-winning suite of digital lifestyle applications.

The MacBook is a huge hit with customers, and is one of the reasons that Mac sales are growing three times faster than PC sales,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “The new MacBook is faster, has even more memory and storage, and is an ideal notebook for customers’ growing library of digital music, photos and movies.”

Ok. Thank you, AppleInsider. I wanted to know what the updates to the macbooks were. I didn’t want a quote from Phil Schiller in what looks like a chewed-up press release AND what the new macbooks were updated with. I wanted…to know what the new macbook updates were.

Macrumors did a much better job. I’ve always liked them for being a bit more human than any of the other sites and not being complete idiots. They listed out the specs right there. No regurgitated press release.

- 2.0GHz, 13.3″ White MacBook, 80GB, 1GB RAM, Intel Graphics 950, $1099
- 2.16GHz, 13.3″ White MacBook, 120GB, 1GB RAM. Intel Graphics 950, $1299
- 2.16GHz, 13.3″ Black MacBook, 160GB, 1GB RAM, Intel Graphics 950, $1499

I’ve unsubscribed from AppleInsider as of writing this. Their posts are just getting more and more idiotic and it’s just plain stupid.

Laurence Anderson had a thought ¬

I have to agree, I never liked Appleinsider, or ThinkSecret for that matter, I’ve been in love with MacRumors, especially because if you’re a part of the forums there you get to actually KNOW who’s posting these things.
